KANAL24, Malang – Dance maestro Didik Nini Thowok served as the guest star at a two-day art performance fund-raiser held spontaneously at Brawijaya University and Mall Malang Town Square to support Malang’s local veteran artist, Mbah matali that suffers from illness.
The program was named as “NGAMEN BERSAMA, Didik Nini Thowok DAN PEMBAKTI SENI BUDAYA MALANG RAYA”, as the program ends around 5 PM, they succeeded at raising approximately 20 million rupiahs for helping Mbah Matali. (6/12/2019).
This fund-raising program, filled with a lot of performances that was flaunted by artists from all around the province to help Mbah Matali. Karjo, one of the performer contended that this program was ‘plural’ as artists can performed every kind of art that they possessed.

He also stated that this event conducted for artists to perform, to show their best form of arts, whether it is musical nor theatrical. Giving artist their own platforms while the governor doesn’t give any sufficient outlets.
He also hoped through these kinds of events, it will bring artists together no matter what era that they may live in. “the benchmark of life is happiness”, said Karjo while reacting to the artists’ life and how money didn’t affect their togetherness for Mbah Matali. He valued happiness as the outcome of this event, both for the audience or the performers, as long as they were coming together and valuing arts in their boasts.
“if it’s not us who bridging between generation and culture, post-millennials would lose their value”, said Karjo as a closing statement of conviction while holding his 6 years old grandson’s shoulder.
He hoped that through these kinds of modern approach will open and set new horizon for citizens that we need to value and work with arts, so that one mother country would not losing its merit and efficacy in the face of globalizations. (fis 18)
